Professor Paul Grout
Chair of the Group and expertise in Economics
Professor Grout is a Professor of Political Economy at the University of Bristol and also holds the positions of Senior Advisor for Competition, Bank of England; a number of positions at Ofgem (Non-Executive Director, Renumeration Committee, Audit and Risk Assurance Committee and Chair of the RIIO2 Committee, ie the network regulation committee) and Academic Advisory Board of Ofcom. He is experienced in delivery of policy speeches to a wide variety of audiences across the world.
Expertise in Digital/Technology and Consumer Retail
Gillian is an experienced Non-Executive Director working with PLC and high growth companies with RemCo chair, Audit, RemCo and Nomination appointments. She has a broad executive career including roles at CEO, Director of Strategy, Business Development and Marketing level, building successful consumer internet and media businesses for Microsoft and Propertyfinder, as well as consulting to early stage technology businesses and large media agencies.
Expertise in Financial/Commercial
David has worked for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in an executive capacity and has extensive knowledge of gambling and the National Lottery. He has been a member of many Boards over a number of years and has a wide range of successes in relation to policy work, finance and efficiency and commercial and delivery.
Expertise in Procurement/Competition
Meryl is a recognised Commerial, Procurement and Supply Chain expert and is an established and experienced Non-Executive Director. She has held large private sector procurement and supply chain roles in the UK with over £7bn spend per annum and has particular knowledge of commerical aspects of large capital investments, offshoring and outsourcing.
Expertise in Economics
Cathryn has recently taken on the role of Group Director, Regulatory Affairs at BT, following a successful time as Chief Executive at Ofwat. She increased the trust and confidence of the regulator measurably; enabling £44bn of investment in the period 2015-20 at the lowest ever regulatory cost of capital for a UK utility industry, and securing support for licence changes to enable future regulatory reform.
Expertise in Consumer and Digital
Juliette has spent a number of years working in data insights on a global basis to deliver commercial success. Her most recent position was Director and European Lead for Customer Insight and Analytics for eBay. She is currently a Non-Executive Director for HMRC and Versus Arthritis. Additionally she provides advisory services on data and insight capability and customer culture change.
